We believe everyone needs support

Ministry and pastoral care workers are indispensable supports for communities during crises, providing comfort and counselling to parishioners in distress, particularly during their most challenging times and life transitions. Like other professionals in the caring fields, they are at risk of experiencing vicarious trauma, which can lead to compassion fatigue, exhaustion, and depression.

Their unique role also places them at risk of social isolation, as they often have limited options for support for their own personal and mental health issues. Pastors frequently feel pressured by the expectations of both their church communities and the wider public, leading to a high burnout rate of at least 25%*.

This combination of pressures exacerbates the challenges faced by ministry workers, underscoring the need for effective support mechanisms.
